We have been sitting in a room for decades, with an empty wall.
We are the first generation of workers that were laid off by the US military in the 80s.
This generation is coming up with innovative solutions to address their problems, such as building solar panels to produce electricity for their homes.
We have seen this generation transform the lives of their families, businesses and communities.
These solutions are not only making the environment cleaner and saving lives, they are also creating jobs and enabling them to support their families.
I am one of the lucky ones.
We grew up here and have experienced many of these solutions.
But we have been left with a broken system.
We need to change it.
And we need to build on it.
