(AP) Industrial power and industrial power services companies are booming again as demand grows for renewable energy and as the price of natural gas keeps falling.
Industry leaders say they are also trying to adapt to the changing needs of consumers who are looking for services to help them get through tough times.
Industrial power is booming again and has been for years.
The Michigan Power Association reported that its industry grew by 1.3 percent in the second quarter of 2018.
The association also says that solar and wind energy production and sales were up nearly 40 percent in 2018, with both generating about 9.3 gigawatts.
It’s the third straight year solar and solar thermal production is up.
Industrials are also seeing new customers and are hoping for better economic conditions.
Michigan Power, the state’s power utility, is predicting a record-breaking third quarter, which is up more than 11 percent from the same time last year.
The group has been touting its economic outlook and growth plan for 2019.
Industries also have been pushing the state to develop new rules that will make it easier for people to buy solar panels and wind turbines.
