Protex has announced a $20 billion deal to build a new fleet of rail, air and inland shipping vessels for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
The investment will create 5,000 jobs in the United States and is expected to create another 5,500 in the UK.
The new ships will be built in the US and will operate in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, while the other two vessels will operate on both coasts.
The new vessels are expected to be able to transport up to 1 million barrels of crude oil and gas annually.
The company, which is based in Houston, Texas, said it expects to hire 1,000 people in the U.S. and 500 in the British Isles.
The new ships, which will be used for rail, are expected for delivery in 2020.
In January, the company announced a deal with US transportation giant Delta to build and operate the first of two new diesel-electric rail ships for oil, natural gas and coal, valued at more than $2 billion.
